Long periods of yo-yo dieting ruins your metabolism and sets it up for you to never truly see your goals – IF you do nothing about it.
Gaining and losing the same pounds can wreak havoc on your confidence, self-esteem, and your belief in yourself as to whether you can TRULY see your goals become your reality.
It’s time to CHANGE this. And only you have the power to do so. Today, I want to give you the motivation and the fuel to FAIL FORWARD.
Time to Face The Music and Get REAL
It’s time you and I have a real conversation.
There’s somebody out here, who’s willing to be 100% honest with you about what you really need to do to finally see the results that you want to see in the gym.
A number of you are out there searching for answers. Going on YouTube, Google, Instagram, Facebook and all. Trying to figure out why it is that you can’t seem to get your body where you want it to be.
Whether it’s a weight loss thing or the aspiration to step on a stage. Whatever it is, you know I serve both competitors and non competitors.
I want to have a conversation with you as a real coach and tell you three reasons why your weight loss efforts haven’t been yielding results.
I’m not going to be very sweet about it, I’m going to talk to you like a real coach and I’m going to rip the band-aid off so you can get solutions.
The Problems With Your Current Approach
There are three main problems right now with your approach to your training and your nutrition and it is stopping you from seeing the results you want to see.
I’m going to be honest with you, it has nothing to do (well maybe a little) with getting a new diet and training program, downloading a new ebook, or downloading a new diet plan or whatever.
If you don’t face these three problems head-on, you’re going to spend the year trying to figure out why you cannot change your body like everybody else easily seem to do.
First Mistake: You’re Deflecting The REAL Issue
The first mistake several women make in this process of body transformation is that they’re trying to fix the problem without addressing the REAL problem.
What do I mean when I say that?
There’s always one underlying thing that connects every single client I’ve worked with to some degree.
And, when I say some degree, I mean, I work with women who are really great – women that have achieved their goals.
To start with, they’re pretty fit, with really great bodies. All they want to do is to take things to the next level.
On the other hand, there’s a greater majority of the people that I work with who struggle day after day trying to lose the same couple of pounds.
The thread that always seems to be the connector is the fact that there are underlying issues when it comes to themselves that continue to sabotage their training and nutrition efforts.
What do I mean when I say this?
A lot of you think it’s automatic, like I just mentioned.
You’ll hear people say to themselves “Let me just get on a new training program and let me just get on a new diet.”
That’s going to be the thing that gets me where I need to get you.
That’s part of it but what about the self-talk that you have?
- What about the mindless snacking that you deal with?
- What about how you constantly put yourself last when it comes to your needs and always putting everyone else’s needs first?
- So your fitness goals get put off even when you have the best intentions of doing what you have to do, or want to do?
- What about those of you who are dealing with binge eating?
- What about those of you who are dealing with hormonal issues and you know that something doesn’t feel right in your body?
For every one of you that think diet and training is the only step that needs to change – there’s more of you that don’t realize that you’re trying to put a band-aid over a gaping wound.
That will never work if you don’t get to the root of what is causing you to fail time and time again. You’re just going to end up again at square one.
Second Mistake: Shifting Blame When It Comes to Why You’re Not Successful at Weight Loss
The second problem is that you are guilty of shifting blame.
Now before you say that’s not you, lets see.
Have you ever said any of this before:
- I’m too busy to focus on my fitness and to lose weight?
- My significant other isn’t very supportive of my efforts?
- I have kids and I can’t really face life and my health when I have to take care of them?
- My job is so crazy and my schedule is so busy that I don’t have time for anything else, my fitness has to go on the back burner?
You should blame yourself, because you don’t embrace responsibility at all.
Now let’s look at each one of these things and see where you are actually shooting yourself in the foot because you didn’t address these.
Are You REALLY Too Busy to Take Care of Yourself?
Number one, let’s take a look at your job. Because a lot of folks say “I’m so busy,” “oh my god it’s so much work,” “they’re not workouts, and I cannot train.”
So, you mean to tell me that your health, sanity, body, and how you feel – like losing your confidence is tied to your fitness.
Is that job more important to you than you reserving time for yourself? Or is it so hard to find the balance that gives you a little time for yourself?
What happens to your position when you quit your job, move on to another job, you die, (god forbid) or you get sick? You can’t work anymore.
What happens is that your job will continue and they are going to do whatever they can as quickly as possible to replace you.
You are expendable and you are replaceable, but you as a person, your health is not.
What happens in situations where you get fired before you realize you are giving all your time to your employer, your business and your job?
If you’re a business owner, you have no excuse, because you should be in top form physically mentally to run your company.
Is Your Partner Sabotaging Your Success?
Regarding your significant other, you have to be able to stand up for yourself. Keep in mind that I’m not a relationship coach so this is beyond my scope of practice.
Using myself as an example, I’ll tell you what me and my significant other do when there is a problem. If there’s something I need to express to him, I am very vocal about it in a respectful way.
We are in a relationship, if he isn’t supportive about something I want. I’ll talk to him about it and why it is so important to me. Next, I’ll try to bring him on the same page.
If he has something going on that he likes, he does the same thing too.
A lot of you need to learn how to open up communication if you have a significant other who likes sabotaging your diet – when they know you’re trying to lose weight, or for whatever reasons.
They may be interrupting your ability to go to the gym and train. You need to sit down and have a conversation with them.
How can you be in a relationship if you’re not present there for yourself?
Your fitness is tied to your life and can enhance it in so many ways. That’s why I’m always talking to you to think bigger.
Stop shifting blame and take responsibility and see how you can make this mold into your lifestyle.
I’m not asking you to move mountains, I’m asking you to give yourself a fighting chance.
Third Mistake: You’re Doing WAY TOO Much
This is the final thing that is stopping you from seeing the results that you want. The problem is that you are fiddling around trying everything under the Sun.
You’re not an expert in any of this, and you may be too cheap in some ways.
Let’s look at an example. I’m going to call this the beta stage. I’m going to say it like it is. Some of you are too cheap to invest in yourselves.
It’s really important for you to realize when you need help, and to reach out for help. You don’t have to be ashamed of it.
Work with a professional who’s really good at what they do or if you buy a product that somebody sells make sure you trust the person.
Trust that this feels right for you. You’re investing in years of your life. You’re investing in your health. Your fitness is at its best, you’re investing and getting the results you want.
A number of you need to come out of pocket and work with a trainer, or coach. Buy a book or an eCourse and immerse yourself in it. Find out what you need to do as an individual to get the results that you want.
Even if you are on a tight budget, there are different options out there.
I have an online store where you can purchase workouts for as little as $10. If you want something more substantial, there are workouts you can buy for $30 to $40.
Those who need more help can get coached, which is a higher level of investment. So stop cheating yourself out, and give yourself a chance to win. Invest in you.
Wrapping Things Up and What to Do Next…
These are three major problems a lot of women deal with regarding factors that hold their weight loss efforts back and seeing changes that they want in their body.
The diet and training aspect of fitness is one thing. You need to look deep at what’s been holding you back and get those things out of the way.
You need to go in and look at your mindset and get yourself in a place where you are poised to win mentally.
If you don’t start getting into your goals deeply and connecting to the reasons why this is important to you, you’re going to see yourself fail time and time again.
Here’s an important thing, you’re on the weight-loss journey to lose weight for good. Is that not correct?
Well, if you don’t address these three things discussed above, you’re just going to set yourself up to do a yo-yo diet for the rest of your life.
This will continue to the point where you’ll just give up, and you’ll be like
“Forget it, I’m just going to let myself be where I am.”
I don’t want you there. I don’t want you to do that.
So go ahead and take a look at where you can do things better in your approach to your training and your nutrition. By doing this, you can start to win. It’s that simple.
